In the winter of 1955, Rosa Parks said "I knew that someone had to take the first step and I made up my mind not to move" and in the fall of 2007, I made my decision to run for Missouri State Treasurer.

I began this campaign to create a better Missouri for my children. I ran to stimulate Missouri's rural and economically disadvantaged areas economies by supporting small local hospitals, to help Missouri's working families and children, to help small business employees save for retirement, and green collar jobs for our communities. I ran to educate citizens about managing their finances responsibly and to improve our education system by financially securing our state college MOST savings plan. I ran to create a Missouri where our children and grandchildren were proud to call home.

All across Missouri I met people hungry for change in our state and national governments. Although my campaign to become the Democratic nominee for Treasurer was not victorious, I am confident change is indeed coming. Missouri and America will be victorious in November when Barack Obama and Missouri's Democratic Statewide team wins and returns Missouri to its wonderful color of blue.

I want to thank you for your support throughout this run for election. I am very proud of the campaign that we ran together and the friendships I have made along the way. I wish you all the very best and I look forward to working with you to elect our Democratic leadership that share our vision of change and desire for hope for our state and nation.
